Shirahige Beach Adventure Water Park is a water obstacle course that appears at Shirahige Beach in Takashima City. In 2026 it was originally due to open on June 27, but was postponed because of Typhoon No. 7 and now runs from Saturday, July 4 to Wednesday, September 23, a public holiday. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends, holidays and during the summer break, with a 10:00 a.m. start on weekdays, in 45-minute sessions. Floating islands, trampolines and other obstacle equipment are linked together on the lake, and the appeal is playing with your sense of balance while sending up sprays of water. Play is based on wearing a life jacket, so even children who are not confident swimmers can take it on alongside a guardian. It is water play on the calm surface that only Lake Biwa offers, with a flavor different from the sea.

Tips

Sessions run 45 minutes on a changeover basis, so if you want to play more than once it is reassuring to check at the reception desk. Look up fees, equipment details and same-day availability on the official website before you set out. Clothes that can get wet and a bag to hold what you take off will come in handy.

Entering from around noon gives you plenty of afternoon time to enjoy it fully until closing
