About this spot

One of the sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendo and a leading post town of the Kisoji, where the streetscape of the Edo period still remains strong. Efforts to preserve the scenery, such as burying power lines, mean you can walk streets that look like a period-drama set. There are many eateries and souvenir shops as well, so you can stroll while tasting the local cuisine of the Kisoji. It is a chance to touch the historic character of the Kisoji before heading to Momosuke Bridge Riverside Park.

南木曽町読書の木曽川沿いに広がる河川公園で、年間を通じて開放されています。公園のそばには大正時代に建設された木製の吊り橋・桃介橋が架かり、国の重要文化財にも指定された貴重な土木遺産です。歴史的な橋を間近に眺めながら、木曽川の河原で浅瀬の水遊びを楽しめるのが大きな魅力。木曽路ならではの澄んだ水と山の緑に包まれ、家族でゆったりとした時間を過ごせます。

Tips

水は上流からの流れのため真夏でも冷たく感じられるので、羽織るものがあると安心です。河原は石が多く滑りやすいのでウォーターシューズがあると安全です。日差しのある時間帯を選んで遊ぶと快適です。

Tips

It can be reached on foot or by bus from Nagiso Station. The streets have many stone paving and slopes, so comfortable shoes are recommended. In summer, strolling while avoiding the sun is more comfortable.
