About this spot

Hitokura Dam (一庫ダム) was built in the northern part of Kawanishi City on the upper reaches of the Ina River (猪名川), and its reservoir is called Lake Chimyo (知明湖). From the top of the dam wall you can take in both the broad lake surface enclosed by mountains and the deep green of the woodland hills around it in a single view. Seeing this great body of water right beside Hitokura Park before you play gives you a way to talk with your children about where the afternoon's stream water comes from. The morning air is still cool, and the breeze off the lake feels wonderful at this hour. Hitokura Park is only a short drive away, making this an ideal first stop of the day.

兵庫県立一庫公園丘の流れは、高低差およそ20メートル・全長およそ210メートルにわたって水を流す水景施設です。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月30日(日)まで、10:00頃から12:00と13:00頃から16:00頃の二部制で通水され、12:00から13:00は設備点検のため停止します。9月は土日祝のみの通水です。平らな池と違って斜面を長く流れ下るつくりなので、上から下へ歩きながら水の速さや深さの変化を体で感じられるのが、この場所ならではの面白さ。料金は無料ですが、シャワーと更衣室はなく、スリッパやサンダルでの入水はできません(ウォーターシューズは使えます)。雨天のときや水の汚れ・詰まりがあったときは停止する場合があるため、出発前に公園の最新のお知らせを確かめてください。

Tips

足元は必ずウォーターシューズにしてください。斜面を流れる構造なので、走らずに歩くことを先に約束しておくと安心です。着替えはトイレを使うことになるので、バスタオルを一枚多めに持っていくと困りません。ぬれた服とシューズを入れるビニール袋を人数分用意しておくと帰りが快適です。16:00頃には通水が終わるので、遅くとも15時までには水に入っておきましょう。

Tips

Viewing is free; please follow the on-site signage regarding which areas around the dam wall are open. There are not many shops, so preparing drinks and a packed lunch before you leave is reassuring. The mountain roads go on for some way, so take an early break if anyone in the car is prone to motion sickness. There is little to block the sun, so have children wear hats from the start.
