About this spot

The Nature Center at Hyogo Prefectural Hitokura Park (兵庫県立一庫公園) is the park's hub facility near the entrance, where you can see displays about the creatures and trees living in the surrounding woodland hills. Being indoors, it is a handy place to cool off and check the park map and routes before walking outside. Working out here where the Hill Stream runs, and where the toilets and rest areas are, makes the afternoon go far more smoothly. Seasonal events and nature-observation programmes are sometimes held, so take a look at the notice board. Learning how this woodland landscape came to be changes the way the stream looks once you step into the water.

Tips

The park car park may charge a fee, so check the signage when you arrive. The Hill Stream stops from 12:00 to 13:00 for equipment inspection, so devoting that hour to indoor time and lunch is an efficient way to build the day. Changing into water shoes here makes moving around afterwards easier. There are many slopes in the park, so a baby carrier is sometimes easier to manage than a stroller.
