Hill Stream at Hyogo Prefectural Hitokura Park (兵庫県立一庫公園 丘の流れ)

About this spot

The Hill Stream at Hyogo Prefectural Hitokura Park (兵庫県立一庫公園) is a water feature that sends water down a vertical drop of roughly 20 metres over a total length of about 210 metres. In 2026 the water runs from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 30 August in two sessions, from around 10:00 to 12:00 and from around 13:00 to around 16:00, stopping from 12:00 to 13:00 for equipment inspection. In September the water runs only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Unlike a flat pool, the water runs a long way down a slope, so you can feel changes in its speed and depth with your body as you walk from top to bottom, which is what makes this place so interesting. Admission is free, but there are no showers or changing rooms, and slippers or sandals are not allowed in the water (water shoes are fine). The water may be stopped in rain or if it becomes dirty or blocked, so check the park's latest announcements before you set out.

Tips

Water shoes are essential for your footing. Because the structure runs down a slope, getting everyone to promise in advance to walk rather than run is reassuring. You will need to use the toilets to change, so an extra bath towel keeps you covered. One plastic bag per person for wet clothes and shoes makes the journey home much more comfortable. The water stops at around 16:00, so get into the stream by 15:00 at the latest.

Best time to visit

Entering just after 13:00 when the water restarts gives you plenty of play time until it ends
