About this spot

Built in the Meiji era, this wooden Western-style hall is designated a national Important Cultural Property. The contrast between the bluish outer walls and the white ornamentation is beautiful, and simply taking a photograph here gives you one good shot of the trip. You take your shoes off to go inside, and you can look slowly around the high-ceilinged halls and the designs of the period. Starting in an air-conditioned interior means you do not use up too much energy before the sun grows strong. It stands inside Nakajima Park (中島公園), so you only have to walk to the next stop on the plan.

中島公園水遊び場は、園内の菖蒲池まわりの流れで水遊びが楽しめる無料の水辺です。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間にあたります。札幌市の案内では開放期間・時間の定めは特になしとされているため、当日の水辺の様子を見ながら遊ぶ形になります。深いプールとは違って浅い流れなので、小さな子でも足をひたすところから始められるのが安心なところ。まわりは木立に囲まれていて日差しがさえぎられ、大人は岸辺で涼しく見守れます。園内にはトイレと売店があり、着替えも飲み物の調達もその場で完結します。

Tips

開設期間・時間が定められていないため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してから向かってください。石や砂で足を切らないよう、水遊び用サンダルを履かせておくと安心です。地下鉄中島公園駅・幌平橋駅から歩いてすぐなので、着替えたあとの帰り道が短いのも助かります。夕方は日陰が増えて冷えるので、体を拭いたら早めに乾いた服に着替えましょう。

Tips

Check the opening hours, closed days and admission fee in the official information. The interior has a calm atmosphere, so promising in advance not to run makes it easier on parents as well. Strollers may have to be left at the entrance, so a baby carrier lets you move around lightly. Using the restrooms in the park before you enter keeps things smooth.
