About this spot

A park on the heights of Hiragishi in Toyohira Ward, known for its gently rolling grassy hill. Little blocks the view and the sky feels vast, so children want to start running the moment they arrive. There is also a corner with play equipment, and early in the morning local families spend time here at an easy pace. There is no need to rush around; the right frame of mind is simply to move your body and switch on the day. The Toyohira River waterfront is not far, so you can stop by without affecting the afternoon plan.

豊平川緑地ウォーターガーデン(ミュンヘン大橋下流左岸)は、札幌市の豊平川緑地(上流地区)にある無料の親水施設です。例年6月15日(月)から9月15日(火)まで、9:00〜17:00に利用できます(札幌市の案内は6月中旬〜9月中旬)。浅い水路状の造りなので流れがおだやかで、小さな子でも足首ほどの深さから遊び始められます。すぐ隣に河川敷の芝生広場が広がっているため、遊んで疲れたらシートの上で休む、というリズムを自然に作れるのが良いところです。開設期間が長く、初夏から9月の残暑まで通えるのも他の水遊び場にはない強みです。夕方17時まで開いているので、日差しがやわらぐ時間帯にいちばん気持ちよく過ごせます。

Tips

川の水位は天候に左右されます。上流で雨が降った日や増水しているときは近づかず、当日の状況を確認してから出発してください。日陰が少ないので、日よけと多めの飲み物は必須です。足元は石があるため水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。

Tips

There is little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks. The grass can be wet with morning dew, so a mat makes it easier to sit. The park sits in a residential area, so keep quiet in the surrounding streets. Checking where the restrooms are in advance gives peace of mind.
