A facility inside Idemitsu Culture Park (出光カルチャーパーク) that covers both art and history. Materials from ruins found around Tomakomai and exhibits conveying the lives of the people who have lived on this land sit in the same building as art exhibits connected to Tomakomai. Because history and art stand side by side, it can meet a child's interest whichever way it turns, which families appreciate. The interior is air-conditioned, so you can spend the strongest sunlight hours in comfort. The excellent location, with the water play area in the same grounds, is another big advantage: when you leave the building you can move straight into the afternoon's play.

出光カルチャーパーク水遊び場は、苫小牧市の出光カルチャーパークにある浅い水遊び場です。2026年は5月25日(月)から9月30日(水)まで、9:00〜21:00に開放され、利用は無料です。開放期間が5月末から9月末までと長く、しかも21:00までという時間の幅は、この街の水遊び場の中でも群を抜いています。水深が浅いので、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。市立中央図書館と美術博物館が同じ園内にあるため、雨が降っても屋内に逃げ込めるという安心感がこの公園の最大の強みです。街の中心に近いので、買い物や食事のあとに気軽に寄れて、遊び終わったらそのまま帰路につけます。

Tips

開放は9:00〜21:00です。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになることがあるため、出発前に苫小牧市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室は用意されていない前提で、水着は下に着ていくと着替えが楽になります。夜まで開いていますが、暗くなってからの水遊びは足元が見えにくいので、上がる時間を先に決めておきましょう。日陰は並木のまわりに限られるため、レジャーシートと帽子、上がったあとの薄手の羽織を用意してください。

Tips

Check the admission fee, closed days and the exhibition currently running in advance. The galleries are a place to stay quiet, so agreeing on a speaking volume with your child before going in makes the visit pleasant. Leave your bags in a locker and look around unencumbered. If you park in the park's car park, you can walk to both the library and the water play area.
