Ebetsubuto Park Water Play Area (江別太公園)

About this spot

The Ebetsubuto Park Water Play Area is a free water play spot in Ebetsu City. The 2026 opening period has not been announced yet, but in most years the water is filled to match the summer holiday season. The water is shallow, so even a child who has only just started walking can dip their feet in and play. What makes this park distinctive is that alongside the water area there is an open free space and a basketball hoop. Elementary school children who tire of the water can move around with a ball, a real advantage when siblings of different ages each want their own way of playing. Admission is free, so you can let them play as long as they like without watching the clock, and in Hokkaido's long summer days it stays bright enough to keep playing into the evening.

Tips

Opening conditions change from year to year, so check this year's period in the Ebetsu City information before you leave. Bringing a ball widens the range of play. Changing space is limited, so putting swimsuits on under clothes makes getting ready on site much easier. Shade comes mainly from under the trees, so on strongly sunny days a pop-up tent or a picnic sheet makes resting easier.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 13:30 and you have about three hours, right through to the softer light of evening
