The Miyanomori Suginoko Park Water Play Area is a free water play area inside Miyanomori Suginoko Park in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. In 2026 it is open from Monday, June 29 to Sunday, August 30, from 10:00 to 16:00. The water is shallow, so even a small child who is afraid of water can start by dipping their feet in and grow used to it little by little. Miyanomori is a calm residential district full of slopes and greenery, and the park does not get crowded, so you can spend the time at your own pace. It is small enough for adults to take in the whole area from a bench in the shade, which suits a first experience of water play. It is also close to Maruyama and the shrine woods, so it fits easily with a morning plan.

Operation of the water play area can change with the weather, so check the conditions on the day before you set out. Have children wear water play sandals so they do not cut their feet. Changing space is limited, so a towel or poncho that goes on over the top is handy. The park sits inside a residential district, so remind everyone to keep quiet nearby. It closes at 16:00, so starting to pack up at 15:30 leaves plenty of time to get home.
