This is the municipal library in central Otofuke Town (音更町). The children's book section is well stocked, and there is even space to sit on the floor and open a picture book. The air-conditioned interior is just the right environment for resting before water play. The local-materials shelves hold books on the history of Otofuke Town and Tokachi (十勝), so there are discoveries for adults too. Even a short stretch of quietly choosing a book makes a good mental reset for children. From here, Kibogaoka Park (希望が丘公園) is only a short drive away.

希望が丘公園噴水(水遊び)は、音更町の希望が丘公園にある無料の水遊び場です。主役は大きな噴水で、勢いよく吹き上がる水を追いかけたり、その下をくぐったりと、子どもたちは自分なりの遊び方をすぐに見つけます。例年の期間は6月1日(月)から9月30日(水)、時間は10:00から18:00で、音更町の案内では「6月上旬〜9月下旬」と紹介されています。住宅地の中にある公園なので、地元の家族連れが多く、のんびりとした雰囲気の中で過ごせます。無料で利用できるうえ、深いプールではないため、小さな子でも保護者が見守りながら安心して遊ばせられます。芝生にシートを広げて、遊ぶ子どもを眺めながら夕方までゆっくりするのがこの公園の楽しみ方です。

Tips
