A prefectural facility standing among the trees of Nakajima Park (中島公園) that introduces writers and works connected with Hokkaido. The exhibits centre on text, but special exhibitions on children's literature are sometimes held, and children may come across a story they already know. The halls are quiet and air-conditioned, making this a comfortable place to spend the morning before the sun grows strong. After viewing the exhibits, you can walk on to the next destination through the shade of Nakajima Park. Learning that a book you have read was set in Hokkaido changes how the town you live in looks, if only a little.

曙もみじ公園水遊び場は、札幌市中央区の曙もみじ公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は6月29日(月)から8月30日(日)まで、10:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い水遊び場なので水深を心配せずに済み、歩き始めたばかりの子でも足をひたすところから遊べます。近所の子どもたちが集まる規模の公園なので、行列や待ち時間がなく、自分たちのペースで過ごせるのが良いところです。木陰のベンチから大人が全体を見渡せるため、はじめての水遊びにも向いています。市電の停留場から歩ける立地で、街歩きの帰りにそのまま立ち寄れます。

Tips

水遊び場の運用は天候によって変わることがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

The halls are a place for quiet viewing, so promising not to run beforehand is reassuring. There are restrooms inside the building and within Nakajima Park. Ask at the reception desk whether pushchairs may be used.
