Sosei River Park (創成川公園)

About this spot

A long, narrow park laid out along both banks of the Sosei River (創成川), which runs north to south through Sapporo. Although it sits downtown surrounded by buildings, the sound of running water and the greenery alone make a considerable difference to how hot it feels. Sculptures and benches line the promenade, so even just walking lets you enjoy the changing character of the city. Remembering that Sapporo's town planning began with the Sosei River makes it interesting to realise that this flow of water was the starting point for everything. Nijo Market (二条市場) is right next door, so you can head straight there for lunch.

曙もみじ公園水遊び場は、札幌市中央区の曙もみじ公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は6月29日(月)から8月30日(日)まで、10:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い水遊び場なので水深を心配せずに済み、歩き始めたばかりの子でも足をひたすところから遊べます。近所の子どもたちが集まる規模の公園なので、行列や待ち時間がなく、自分たちのペースで過ごせるのが良いところです。木陰のベンチから大人が全体を見渡せるため、はじめての水遊びにも向いています。市電の停留場から歩ける立地で、街歩きの帰りにそのまま立ち寄れます。

Tips

水遊び場の運用は天候によって変わることがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

Tips

Bicycles also use the path, so hold small children's hands as you walk. Shade is limited, so a hat is reassuring. Benches fill up easily around midday, so an earlier hour is best if you want to rest. For restrooms, borrowing those of nearby commercial facilities is the sure option.
