On the Hokkaido University campus stands one of Sapporo's signature sights. Poplars line up rising straight into the sky, so tall that children are astonished and their necks ache from looking up. In summer the leaves fill in and cast cool shade, turning it into a promenade that feels good simply to walk. Wide areas of the campus are open to stroll freely, and the pleasure lies in wandering slowly past lawns, tree-lined paths and old buildings. A pastoral landscape spreading out in the middle of the city is scenery only this university can offer.

若草公園修景水路は、札幌市北区の若草公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は7月5日(日)から8月23日(日)まで、9:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い修景水路なので水深を心配せずに済み、歩き始めたばかりの子でも足をひたすところから遊べます。細長く伸びる水路に沿って歩きながら遊べるのは、プールにはない楽しみ方です。近所の子どもたちが集まる規模の公園なので、行列や待ち時間がなく、自分たちのペースで過ごせるのが良いところ。木陰のベンチから大人が全体を見渡せるため、はじめての水遊びにも向いています。

Tips

気象状況により期間や開放が変動することがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

Tips

The areas of the avenue you may enter are defined, so follow the on-site guidance. The campus is wide, so decide how far you will walk before you set off and you will not tire out. There are shops and vending machines within the grounds. On very windy days, approaching the avenue may be restricted.
