About this spot

This is an information facility near the main gate of Hokkaido University (北海道大学), where you can pick up campus maps and guidance. The elm of its name is the Japanese elm, and several large specimens spread their branches across the lawns of the campus. The area you can walk is broad, and simply following the route past the Clark statue, the historic school buildings and the tree-lined paths makes for a thoroughly enjoyable stroll. Pastoral scenery that continues even though you are in the city center is a view unique to this university. Because the name connects to Elm no Mori Park (エルムの森公園), where you head in the afternoon, learning the name of the tree before going to play will stay in a child's memory.

エルムの森公園修景水路は、札幌市北区のエルムの森公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は7月5日(日)から8月23日(日)まで、9:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い修景水路なので水深を心配せずに済み、歩き始めたばかりの子でも足をひたすところから遊べます。細長く伸びる水路に沿って歩きながら遊べるのは、プールにはない楽しみ方です。近所の子どもたちが集まる規模の公園なので、行列や待ち時間がなく、自分たちのペースで過ごせるのが良いところ。木陰のベンチから大人が全体を見渡せるため、はじめての水遊びにも向いています。

Tips

気象状況により期間や開放が変動することがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

Please follow the on-site information for opening hours and the areas open to visitors. The campus is large, so decide how far you will walk before you move and you will not tire yourselves out. There is a shop and vending machines, so you can stock up on drinks here. Some paths carry a lot of bicycle traffic, so hold small children by the hand as you walk.
