About this spot

A promenade that runs dead straight east to west through Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo, created by turning the site of a former railway into a walking path. Because it was once a rail line there are almost no curves, and a straight path stretches away as far as you can see, so walking it you can feel the memory of the land taking physical form. The roadside trees have grown, giving plenty of shade in summer, which suits a morning walk. Many people also cycle here, so keep to the side when walking with small children. It is a precious path where you can walk without worrying about cars even though you are in the middle of the city.

北郷公園水遊び池は、札幌市白石区の北郷公園に夏だけ現れる浅い水遊び場です。2026年は7月10日(金)から8月31日(月)まで、9:00〜17:00に開放され、利用は無料です。朝から夕方まで長く開いているので、午前だけ、午後だけ、といった家族の予定に合わせた使い方ができるのがこの水遊び池の強みです。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べます。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせるのも、公園の水遊び場ならではの気楽さです。近所の子どもたちが集まる場所なので、その日はじめて会った子と一緒に遊びだす姿もよく見られます。

Tips

開放は9:00〜17:00ですが、天候や清掃の都合で時間が変わることがあるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚が必要です。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩がぐっと楽になります。

Tips

It is very long overall, so choosing a section and walking it out and back is the practical approach. Bicycles pass in both directions, so have children walk on the edge and hold hands so they do not dart out. Choosing a section with plenty of shade makes it easy to walk even in summer. Use a spot with benches as your marker for turning back and the distance comes out just right.
