An area in Kawashimo Park, in the same Shiroishi Ward, where lilacs have been planted together. Lilac is beloved as the symbol tree of Sapporo, and many people come during the flowering season, but in summer the branches and leaves grow thick to make cool shade with a breeze running through. The grounds are wide and it is easy to find a place to spread a picnic sheet, so it is just right for a packed lunch. Walking while checking the trees' names one by one, even small children notice with delight that there are so many trees of the same kind. Spend the hours of strongest sun here and save your energy for the afternoon.

Tips

There are restrooms and parking on site, so it is easy to get around even on days you travel by car. Insects are common in this season, so repellent makes it more comfortable. Entering the water right after eating puts a strain on the body, so rest a little before heading to Kitago Park. Getting your change of clothes ready here makes things go smoothly.
