A large, undulating park in Toyohira Ward, where the boat pond and the play equipment built into the slope are favorites with children. Rowing boats float on the pond, and just moving slowly across the water is experience enough for a child. The Park Life Center on the grounds has a nursing room and restrooms, so it is reassuring to know the place is equipped for spending a whole day with small children. There is plenty of shaded lawn, so you will find just the right spot to spread a picnic sheet and eat your lunch. Because you play while climbing and descending slopes, children use their bodies differently than in a flat park, which is part of the fun.

東2条公園水遊び場は、札幌市豊平区の東2条公園にある夏だけの浅い水遊び場です。期間は例年7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9:00〜17:00で、札幌市の案内では「7月上旬〜8月下旬」と示されており、利用は無料です。朝から夕方まで長く開いているので、午前だけ、午後だけといった家族の予定に合わせた使い方ができます。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせます。近所の子どもたちが集まる住宅街の公園ならではの、肩の力の抜けた時間が流れています。

Tips

開放は9:00〜17:00ですが、天候や清掃の都合で変わることがあるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。開始と終了の時期は年によって前後するので、シーズンの初めと終わりに行くときは特に確認を。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚を必ず持っていってください。

Tips

The boats have set operating days, hours and fares, so check in advance if you intend to ride. The grounds are hilly, so choosing a stroller-friendly route makes things easier. Shaded lawn fills up before noon, so deciding on your spot early is safest. Getting into the water right after eating is hard on the body, so rest a little before heading to Higashi 2-jo Park.
