Kasuga Green Space Water Play Area, in Kasuga Green Space (春日緑地) in Nishi Ward, Sapporo, is a shallow water play area that is free to use. It is open from Saturday, June 6, 2026 to Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 9:00 to 17:00, a stretch long enough to cover the whole summer. Because the water is shallow, even small children who cannot swim yet can wade in on their own two feet, which is reassuring. It is a green space inside a residential district, so you join the ordinary summer scene, playing alongside local children. There are no changeover times as at a swimming pool, so you can play as long as you like and rest when you have had enough. Admission is free, so it also works well as a short afternoon stop.

It closes at 17:00. Getting out of the water around 16:30 leaves enough time to change and pack up without rushing. There are days when it cannot be used because of the weather, the water temperature or cleaning work, so check the City of Sapporo information page for that day's status before you leave. There are hours with little shade, so a hat and sunscreen are essential. Children who are not yet out of diapers should bring swim diapers.
