Tokuganji Temple (浄土宗海巌山徳願寺)

About this spot

An old temple in Motogyotoku, Ichikawa, and the leading presence of the Gyotoku temple town. In the Edo period this area prospered through salt making and water transport, and it also lay along the route of pilgrimages to Narita, so many temples gathered here. Temple walls and tiled roofs still line the street, leaving a calm streetscape in the middle of a residential district. The main gate of Tokuganji Temple is imposing, and once you step into the grounds it is almost strange how the sounds of the street fade away. This is not a place for a long stay, so the best way to enjoy it is to walk slowly while taking in the surrounding streetscape.

市川市行徳の駅前公園にある、無料の水遊び場「駅前公園噴水広場」です。市の公式は開設を「4月下旬から9月末まで」と案内していて、2026年は4月25日(土)頃から9月30日(水)頃まで、10時から16時30分まで楽しめます。噴水は15分の放出と15分の休憩を繰り返す仕組みなので、水が出ていない時間に休憩や水分補給をはさむリズムが自然に生まれます。水着着用の義務はないため、濡れてもよい服装で気軽に立ち寄れるのが、この広場の使いやすいところです。雨天や強風のときは停止します。なお同じ園内にある25mプールとミニプールは別施設の扱いなので、混同しないよう注意してください。

Tips

噴水は15分ごとに止まるので、止まっている時間に日陰へ移動して休むリズムを作ると疲れにくくなります。水着でなくてもよいぶん、乾いた着替えを必ず用意しておきましょう。地面が濡れてすべりやすくなるので、脱げにくい履物が安心です。16時30分で終了なので、16時前には着替えの準備を始めると落ち着いて帰れます。

Tips

The grounds are a place of worship, so tell children in advance not to run around. The surrounding roads are narrow local streets and parking space is limited, so walking or cycling suits this stop. Some streets have little shade, so do not forget hats and drinks. For access to the temple interior, follow the posted notices and guidance.
