Joyato Park (常夜灯公園)

About this spot

A small park on the bank of the Old Edogawa River (旧江戸川) that carries the history of water transport in Gyotoku into the present. The stone lantern that once stood as a marker for the boat landing remains, letting you see traces of the era when boats connected Edo and Gyotoku. Go up onto the embankment and the river opens out before you, and because the wind passes through freely it is more comfortable here than you might expect even in midsummer. There is lawn and there are benches, making it just the right size for spreading a picnic sheet and eating a packed lunch. Lunch while watching boats come and go becomes a memorable time for children too.

市川市行徳の駅前公園にある、無料の水遊び場「駅前公園噴水広場」です。市の公式は開設を「4月下旬から9月末まで」と案内していて、2026年は4月25日(土)頃から9月30日(水)頃まで、10時から16時30分まで楽しめます。噴水は15分の放出と15分の休憩を繰り返す仕組みなので、水が出ていない時間に休憩や水分補給をはさむリズムが自然に生まれます。水着着用の義務はないため、濡れてもよい服装で気軽に立ち寄れるのが、この広場の使いやすいところです。雨天や強風のときは停止します。なお同じ園内にある25mプールとミニプールは別施設の扱いなので、混同しないよう注意してください。

Tips

噴水は15分ごとに止まるので、止まっている時間に日陰へ移動して休むリズムを作ると疲れにくくなります。水着でなくてもよいぶん、乾いた着替えを必ず用意しておきましょう。地面が濡れてすべりやすくなるので、脱げにくい履物が安心です。16時30分で終了なので、16時前には着替えの準備を始めると落ち着いて帰れます。

Tips

Shade is limited, so secure a spot under a tree or on a bench early. Some stretches along the embankment have no railing, so do not take your eyes off small children. Checking where the restrooms are in advance is reassuring. Stock up on drinks by this point in preparation for the afternoon water play.
