About this spot

This is a shrine of long standing in Kamakazu, Asahi City, which has walked alongside the reclamation of Higata Hachimangoku (干潟八万石). The grounds, ringed by tall trees, keep their cool air even in summer, and you can feel the heat leave your body just by walking the approach path. It is also known as a shrine where kagura sacred dance has been handed down, a place where the link between local life and faith comes through. It is not a tourist facility with showy sights, but time spent with hands joined in the quiet air is a fresh experience for children too. Rather than lingering, dropping by while the morning is still cool is just the right way to visit.

Tips

The grounds are mostly gravel paths, so easy walking shoes are safer. Some spots are hard to push a stroller through, so a baby carrier makes moving around easier. Going over shrine etiquette with children in advance helps everyone stay calm. There is plenty of shade, so even a summer morning walk stays relatively cool.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. The morning, when the shade of the trees is deep, is especially pleasant.
