Former Tega Church (旧手賀教会堂)

About this spot

This is a small chapel that remains in the village of Tega in Kashiwa City, on the south shore of Lake Teganuma. Its origin as a thatched-roof farmhouse converted into a place of worship shows plainly in its appearance, giving it a distinctive look that is neither quite church nor quite old farmhouse. Fields and copses spread out all around in a peaceful scene, and you can barely hear the sound of cars. There is no showy attraction here, but the quiet is more than enough to let you imagine the lives of the people who once lived on this land. It is not a place to linger, so a brief stop at the start of the morning is just the right amount of time.

Venue: 柏市・手賀の丘公園

柏市の手賀の丘公園にある、無料の水遊び場「手賀の丘公園じゃぶじゃぶ池」です。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月31日(月)まで、9時から16時まで開放されます。定休日は月曜ですが、7月20日(祝・月)は営業、7月21日(火)が休止、8月31日(月)は営業という変則の日程なので、出かける前に日付を確かめてください。足をつけて遊ぶ施設のため、泳いだり顔を水につけたりすることはできず、サンダル等での利用もできません。雨天や前日の豪雨があると中止になることがあるので、前日からの天気も確認しておきましょう。森に囲まれた立地で木陰が多く、真夏でも過ごしやすいのが魅力です。

Tips

サンダルでは利用できないため、脱げにくいマリンシューズを必ず用意してください。泳ぐ場所ではないので、浮き輪より水鉄砲やバケツなど「足元で遊ぶ道具」が向いています。16時で終了なので、15時台には着替えの準備を始めるとあわてずに済みます。木陰が多いぶん蚊もいるので、虫よけを持っていくと快適です。

Tips

Open days and hours may be limited, so if you want to see the interior, check Kashiwa City's information in advance. The surrounding streets are residential with little parking, so do not park on the road and follow the posted guidance. There is little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks. Telling small children that an old house was turned into a church makes it easier for them to take an interest.
