About this spot

This is a large grassy plaza spreading across the center of the Forest and Plaza of the 21st Century. As the name suggests, the breeze passes through well, and if you choose a shady spot it is surprisingly comfortable even in midsummer. Water springs up at the edge of this plaza and flows as a small stream down to Sendabori Pond (千駄堀池), so it is also interesting that you can see with your own eyes where the afternoon's water begins. It is just the right time to spread a picnic sheet, eat lunch, and rest up for the afternoon water play. Whether the shop is open varies by day, so preparing your lunch and drinks in advance is the sure way to go.

Tips

Shady spots tend to fill up before noon, so arrive early and secure a place under a tree. The lawn gets muddy after rain, so a ground sheet you do not mind getting dirty is reassuring. Rather than getting into the water right after eating, resting a while before moving on is easier on the body. Checking where the restrooms are in advance makes the afternoon smoother.
