Honmachi Park Toddler Pool

This is the Honmachi Park Toddler Pool, a summer-only toddler pool set up in Honmachi Park in Wakayama City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday 18 July to Wednesday 12 August, from 1 pm to 4 pm. It is only for children who have not yet started elementary school; elementary school pupils and older cannot use it. A guardian must accompany them, and a swimsuit is required. Disposable nappies or pull-ups that are not made for water play cannot be used, so prepare swim nappies for children who are not yet out of nappies. Admission is free, which is another blessing: you can use it casually and wrap up after a short while depending on how your child is doing.

The pool may be cancelled because of rain or other weather conditions. Checking the Wakayama City information and the day's forecast before you leave is reassuring. The park has no car park, so use public transport or a nearby paid car park. It is often quiet right after the 1 pm opening, so even small children can get used to the water calmly. This falls in the hours when the sun is strong, so take frequent breaks in the shade and drink water often.
