About this spot

A public retreat in Minuma Ward, Saitama City, surrounded by woods and flower beds. The biggest draw is the Squirrel House, where you can watch up close as free-roaming squirrels dart past right in front of you. Walking paths lined with groves run through the grounds, and in the morning the shade is cool enough that even just strolling feels wonderful. True to Minuma, an area known for growing flowers and garden trees, the green surroundings here are carefully preserved, which is very much a local characteristic. Admission is free, so it is easy to drop by.

さいたま市見沼区の「東大宮親水公園」です。水遊びは例年5月上旬頃から9月末まで(2026年は5月1日(金)頃〜9月30日(水)頃)、8:00〜16:00の時間帯に利用できます(清掃等により利用できない場合あり)。利用は無料で、敷地8,000平方メートルの園内にはトイレとパーゴラが備わっています。朝8時から使えるので、猛暑日は暑くなる前の時間帯に短時間だけ遊ぶという使い方もできるのが心強いところ。5月から9月末まで約5か月にわたって利用できるため、真夏を避けて初夏や秋口に訪れる計画も立てられます。近所の子どもたちが集まる地元の水辺なので、気負わず立ち寄れる気楽さが魅力です。

Tips

清掃等により利用できない日があるため、遠方から向かう場合はさいたま市公園緑地協会の案内で当日の状況を確認しておくと安心です。更衣室の記載はないので、水着は服の下に着ていくのが確実。パーゴラの日陰は人気なので、早めに場所を決めておくと快適です。水遊び後は水道で足をよく洗い、こまめに休憩をはさみましょう。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Tips

The Squirrel House has set opening hours, so checking them on the Saitama City official website before you visit is the sure approach. Always wash hands after touching the animals. There is plenty of shade in the grounds, but mosquitoes can be around, so insect repellent adds to the comfort.
