This is Higashi-Omiya Shinsui Park (東大宮親水公園) in Minuma Ward, Saitama City. Water play is usually available from around early May to the end of September (in 2026, from around Friday 1 May to around Wednesday 30 September), from 8:00 to 16:00 (it may be unavailable due to cleaning and the like). Use is free, and the 8,000-square-metre grounds are equipped with toilets and a pergola. Because it opens at 8:00, on extremely hot days you can also choose to play for just a short spell before the heat sets in, which is reassuring. With about five months of availability from May to the end of September, you can also plan a visit in early summer or early autumn to avoid the peak of midsummer. As a local waterside where neighbourhood children gather, its appeal is the easy, unfussy feeling of just dropping in.

Tips

There are days when it is unavailable because of cleaning and the like, so if you are travelling from far away, checking the day's status via the Saitama City Parks and Green Spaces Association notices is reassuring. No changing rooms are listed, so wearing swimsuits under clothes is the sure approach. The shade of the pergola is popular, so deciding on your spot early makes for a more comfortable visit. After water play, wash feet thoroughly at the tap and take frequent breaks. For children not yet out of nappies, please bring swim nappies.
