Iwatsuki Castle Ruins Park (岩槻城址公園) is known as one of the prefecture's leading cherry blossom spots, with about 600 cherry trees in bloom. Within the undulating grounds surrounded by natural woodland, earthworks of the former Iwatsuki Castle still remain, so you can enjoy both a history walk and a nature walk. The park also has tennis courts, a baseball field, the Wanpaku Hiroba play area with play equipment, and a picnic area with a fountain, so each family member can spend time their own way. It is also perfect as a light warm-up before swimming in the pool.
Tips
The ground is undulating, so visit in comfortable walking shoes. The Wanpaku Hiroba play area is popular with small children, so playing on the equipment for a while before moving to the next spot is also recommended. In summer, choosing shaded routes keeps you comfortable.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The morning, before the sun gets strong, is most comfortable
