Gandenzan Shobo-ji Temple (巌殿山正法寺, also known as Iwadono Kannon)

About this spot

An ancient temple partway up the hill in Iwadono, Higashimatsuyama City, known as a station on the Bando Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage. The street running straight from the gate, and the hall standing beyond it at the top of the stone steps, are the very picture of this land. The great ginkgo towering in the grounds has a majestic form built up over many years, and simply looking up at it overwhelms children too. Although it is right near the zoo, it is quiet, and stopping by in the morning makes it an especially pleasant place. A simple visit takes little time, so it fits easily into a morning plan.

東松山市の埼玉県こども動物自然公園にある「埼玉県こども動物自然公園ジャブジャブ池」です。2026年は7月18日(土)から9月11日(金)まで、9:30〜16:00の時間帯に開かれます(月曜休園日を除く)。天候や気温によって水をためない日があるため、当日の状況確認が欠かせません。ジャブジャブ池は無料で、別途入園料として大人900円・小中学生200円・未就学児無料がかかります。すぐそばに売店があってアイスクリームや軽食も買えるので、遊びながらの補給がしやすいのも助かるところ。動物を見た興奮そのままに水へ飛び込める、動物園ならではの水遊び場です。

Tips

天候・気温により水をためない日があるので、出かける前に公園の公式サイトで当日の稼働を確認してください。月曜は休園日になる点も要注意です。水遊び後は水道で足をよく洗い、木陰で休憩をはさみながら遊びましょう。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。終了は16:00なので、15時半をめどに片づけを始めると余裕を持って帰れます。

Tips

Because of the stone steps, you will need to leave a stroller at the bottom; a baby carrier makes moving easier. There is parking in front of the gate, but the number of spaces is limited. The grounds are a quiet place, so telling children beforehand not to run around gives peace of mind.
