About this spot

A small station on the JR Hanwa Line in the mountains of Hannan City, located right beside Wanpaku Kingdom. Cherry trees are planted along the tracks, making a tunnel of blossoms in spring and a green tunnel that blocks the sun in summer. This valley hamlet is where a post town stood on the Kumano Kaido (熊野街道), the road from Kyoto and Osaka to Kumano, and it sits at the entrance to the pass leading through to Wakayama. Walking the narrow lane with mountains closing in from both sides, the scenery itself tells you this has long been a highway route. Use this as a stroll to grasp the valley's terrain and history before playing in the park.

わんぱく王国水辺の広場は、阪南市の谷あいにある公園の無料の水遊び場です。2026年のシーズンは6/1(月)〜8/31(月)の9:30〜17:00で、すぐそばを流れる川からポンプで水を汲み上げて浅い水辺に流しています。自然の川の水をそのまま使う仕組みなので、猛暑などで川の水量が減った場合は水を出せないことがあります。利用するときは管理棟の事務所へ声をかける決まりになっているため、到着したらまず管理棟に立ち寄ってください。山に囲まれた立地で木陰が多く、市街地の水遊び場とはまったく違う涼しさが味わえるのがこの場所の魅力です。料金は無料で、駐車場は普通車500円、管理棟にトイレがあります。

Tips

到着したらまず管理棟の事務所に声をかけてから利用してください。水量は当日の川の状況によるので、遠方から向かう場合は事前に阪南市へ確認すると確実です。石や砂利で足を切らないよう、脱げにくい水遊び用サンダルを履かせてください。山あいなので蚊やアブが出ます。虫よけと、日が陰ってから羽織れる上着を用意しておくと快適です。

Tips

Services on this line are infrequent, so if you come by train, check the times for both directions in advance. The hamlet lanes are narrow and cars pass through, so hold hands with children as you walk. Vending machines and shops are limited, so preparing drinks beforehand is reassuring.
