Wanpaku Kingdom Waterside Plaza is a free water play area in a park in the valley of Hannan City. The 2026 season runs from Monday, June 1 to Monday, August 31, from 9:30 to 17:00, and water is pumped up from the river flowing right alongside and sent into the shallow water area. Because the system uses natural river water as it is, the water may not be released if the river level drops during extreme heat. The rule is to speak to the office in the administration building when you use it, so stop by the administration building first when you arrive. Surrounded by mountains with plenty of shade, it offers a coolness completely different from a water play area in the city, and that is the charm of this place. Admission is free, parking is 500 yen for a standard car, and there are toilets in the administration building.

Tips

When you arrive, speak to the office in the administration building before using the area. The water volume depends on the river's condition that day, so if you are coming from far away, checking with Hannan City in advance makes it certain. Have children wear water sandals that will not slip off, so they do not cut their feet on stones or gravel. Being in the mountains, there are mosquitoes and horseflies. Insect repellent and a layer to put on once the sun goes behind the ridge make the visit more comfortable.
