Eizan-ji Temple (榮山寺)

About this spot

This is an ancient temple dating back to the Nara period, built as if nestling against the flow of the Yoshino River (吉野川). The standout feature on the grounds is the National Treasure octagonal hall with its eight-sided roof. Looking up at it from close by, you can sense the beauty of the joinery and the weight of the passing centuries. A National Treasure temple bell has also been handed down here, and in the quiet precincts only the sound of the river and the calls of birds can be heard. It is a calm place far removed from the bustle of tourist spots, so visiting first thing in the morning sets a pleasant tone for the whole day. There are no long staircases, so walking here with small children is not tiring.

「五條中央公園親水広場」は、五條市の公式案内で稼働期間が令和8年(2026年)5月1日から9月末まで、稼働時間が10:00から16:00までと示されている無料の水遊び場です。4種類の噴水による演出が用意されていて、吹き上がり方が変わるたびに子どもが歓声をあげながら走り回ります。ろ過と塩素の自動システムを採用しているため、小さな子を遊ばせるときの安心感があるのもこの広場の特徴です。同じ公園内には9:30から16:00まで使える大型トランポリン「ふわふわドーム」があり、水から上がったあとの遊び場として最高の相棒になります。アスレチックや多目的グラウンドもそろい、桜や梅の木が季節ごとに景色を変えてくれます。料金は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。

Tips

毎週水曜(祝日の場合は翌日)と年末年始は、親水広場・ふわふわドーム・公園事務所が休園です。天候により休止する場合もあるため、出発前に五條市の公式案内で確認してください。終了は16:00なので、着替えの時間を見込んで15時30分ごろに水から上がると落ち着いて帰れます。ふわふわドームは日差しで表面が熱くなることがあるので、水遊びのあとに足を拭いてから使うと安心です。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意しましょう。

Tips

Check the admission fee and opening hours in advance. Much of the grounds is gravel or bare earth, so comfortable walking shoes are a safe choice. Mosquitoes appear by the river in summer, so bring insect repellent. The main hall is close to the parking area, making it suitable for a short stop as well.
