The first cable car to open in Japan, climbing the steep slopes of Mt. Ikoma (生駒山). The carriages that leave the station at the foot are charmingly shaped like a dog and a cat, lifting children's spirits before they even board. The sensation of climbing the steep gradient is an attraction in itself. Outside the window the townscape of Ikoma shrinks away, letting you feel in your body that you have come to the mountains. Since you change trains at Hozanji Station (宝山寺駅) and Ikoma-Sanjo Station (生駒山上駅), it is also convenient for building a stop at the temple into the day.

「生駒山上遊園地 PLAY PEAK ITADAKI アドベンチャー・レイク」は、標高642mの山上にあるボーネルンド監修の遊び場の中で、湖をイメージした浅瀬で水あそびと砂あそびが同時に楽しめるエリアです。湖に浮かぶ探検船に乗り込んだり、サーキットの乗り物で走ったりと、水に入らない遊び方も用意されているのできょうだいで好みが違っても大丈夫。2026年7月31日には「水鉄砲コーナー」のオープンが告知され、遊びの幅がさらに広がりました。同じ敷地にはスカイウォーク・ヒル、スウィング・バレー、トドラー・ガーデン、屋内のマウンテン・ハットがあり、日差しの強い時間帯や小雨のときの逃げ場にも困りません。料金は1歳600円、2歳から小学生と中学生以上が1,500円、保護者600円、1歳未満は無料で、1日遊び放題・入退場フリー(当日再入場可)です。山の上なので麓より風が涼しく、真夏でも体力を消耗しにくいのがこの場所ならではの強みです。

水遊びの開放期間は未発表で、例年は夏季です。PLAY PEAK ITADAKIの営業期間は2026年3月7日(土)から12月6日(日)までですが、土日祝と一部の平日のみの営業で、平日は基本休園(学校団体貸切)です。出発前に必ず営業日を確認してください。オープンスカイ・デッキの「プレイフル・カナル」は安全確認のため営業を見合わせています。入退場が自由なので、昼ごはんは持参して屋外で広げるか、いったん出て食べるかを当日の混み具合で決められます。山上は風が涼しく、濡れたままだと体が冷えるので、羽織るものと着替えを多めに用意しましょう。

Tips

Check fares and timetables on the official website in advance. On weekends and public holidays there are time bands with more departures, so moving in line with the timetable reduces waiting. Seating in the carriages is limited, so you may have to stand at busy times. Folding strollers up before boarding makes things smoother.
