Matsukawa Riverside Park Splash Waterway

About this spot

This is the free Matsukawa Riverside Park Splash Waterway, laid out along the Matsukawa River in Zao Town, Miyagi Prefecture. Because it is a shallow channel built at the river's edge, children can touch the water safely without entering the strong main current. A cobblestone revetment and a stepped revetment have been built, and having the place you approach the water separate from the place you sit and rest is a welcome design for families. A multipurpose ground and a lawn park adjoin the site, so children can run around when they tire of the water and rest on a sheet when they tire of running. There is a cooking area, so with the rules observed you can also prepare a hot meal. Spending the day with the Zao mountain range in view behind you is the charm unique to this park.

Tips

The opening period has not been announced, and it is usually run during the summer holidays. Check on-site information for the day's status before you set out. As a river park, water volume and clarity change after heavy rain or when it is raining upstream. If the weather looks like turning, do not push it, and cancel. Cobblestones are slippery when wet, so water shoes that protect your feet are reassuring. Even where the water is shallow, never take your eyes off children and always have an adult accompany them. If you use the cooking area, put out fires completely, clean up thoroughly and take your rubbish home.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours 10 minutes. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is recommended.
