Nozomino Central Park Artificial Stream

About this spot

This is the artificial stream at Nozomino Central Park in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. In summer, water flows through the park's artificial stream, so children can wade through the shallow current and splash each other. Right beside it are a lawn plaza, a play space for small children and fitness equipment, so when they tire of the water they can use the playground, and when they tire of running they can return to the water at their own pace. There are restrooms inside the park, so you will not be stuck for a place to change or rest. Because the park sits at the heart of a newly developed residential area, the roads are wide and the sidewalks well maintained, which families appreciate for easy stroller access. Admission is free, so you can also just drop by in the evening to cool off for a short while.

Tips

The days when water flows are irregular, so be sure to check the Ishinomaki City information before you go to confirm the stream is running. The opening period has not been announced either; in past years it has operated during the summer holiday season. Even though the water is shallow, never look away and always have an adult accompany children. The neighborhood is young and the trees are not yet large, so shade is limited. A hat, drinks and something to create shade will put you at ease. For children not yet out of diapers, bring swim diapers. After playing, rinse feet well and change clothes before heading home so no one gets chilled.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours. The afternoon, when the sunlight softens, is recommended
