This is the free Katsura Central Park Water Play Area in Katsura Central Park, Izumi Ward, Sendai City. Because the water play spot is right in front of the entrance, its appeal is a layout so clear that children can dash off the moment they arrive. The park has a lawn plaza, playground equipment, a promenade and a basketball hoop, so it is a delight that small children and older elementary schoolers can spend time here together. Since the park sits at the heart of a residential district, the surrounding roads are easy to walk and getting around is no burden even with a lot of luggage. Admission is free, so you can also use it casually, such as dropping by in the evening to cool off for a short while.

Tips

The opening period has not been announced; in past years it has operated during the summer holiday season. Please check the Sendai City information for the day's status before you go. Even though the water is shallow, never look away and always have an adult accompany children. Shade is limited to spots under the trees and around the benches, so do not forget a hat, drinks and a picnic sheet for resting. For children not yet out of diapers, bring swim diapers. After playing, rinse feet well and change clothes before heading home so no one gets chilled.
