Tatsuwa Waterside Park Babbling Stream Water Play Area
About this spot
This is the free Tatsuwa Waterside Park Babbling Stream Water Play Area in Taiwa Town (大和町), Miyagi Prefecture. The brook running through the park is about 30 to 50 cm wide and only about ankle deep, so even children who have just started walking can touch the water safely with an adult lending a hand. A lawn area spreads out alongside, and laying down a picnic sheet to make a base lets you go back and forth between the water and rest many times. A cooking hearth is provided, so if you follow the rules you can also prepare a hot meal. Parking and restrooms are in place, and having little to worry about when changing clothes or resting is a real plus for families. Admission is free, so you can also use it for a short stop in the evening just to cool off.
Season & hours
Name: 立輪水辺公園 せせらぎ(小川)の水遊び場
Date & time: 開設期間は未発表 (例年は夏休み期間)
Venue: 大和町・立輪水辺公園
Tips
The opening period has not been announced, and in past years operation has run through the summer holidays. Check the Taiwa Town information for conditions on the day before you set out. The stones in the brook are slippery, so water shoes that protect your feet bring peace of mind. Even though the water is shallow, do not take your eyes off children, and an adult must always stay with them. If you use the cooking hearth, be thorough about putting out the fire and cleaning up, and follow the notices posted in the park. Temperatures drop in the evening in this mountain area, so be sure to bring dry clothes to change into. Rubbish must generally be taken home.
Best time to visit
About 3 hours 30 minutes. The early afternoon, when you can play after eating a boxed lunch, is recommended.
