This is a spring in Takashimizu, Kurihara City, known as one of the famous waters of Miyagi. Water wells up quietly from a corner surrounded by trees, and even in midsummer the air right around it stays cool. Explaining that the place name Takashimizu is said to derive from fine spring water helps even a child grasp why the whole day will be spent in the company of water. There is nothing showy here, but the simple experience of dipping in a hand and feeling the cold tends to stay in the memory. The park is close by, so it makes an ideal short morning stop.

宮城県栗原市高清水にある、無料の「高清水城外濠公園壁泉・小川」です。かつての城の外濠を整えた公園で、壁泉から流れ落ちる人工の滝と小川、池を使って水遊びができます。園内は樹木が多く四季の景観を楽しめる造りになっていて、夏は木陰が自然の休憩場所になってくれます。駐車場とトイレが整っているので、着替えや休憩の心配が少なくて済みます。城の濠という歴史のある地形の中で水遊びができるのは、この公園ならではの体験です。料金は無料なので、暑い日の夕方だけ涼みに立ち寄る使い方もできます。

開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の運用です。出かける前に栗原市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。池は水遊びの場所とは深さが違うので、子どもがどこまで入ってよいかを最初に決めておくと安心です。水深の浅い場所でも目を離さず、大人が必ず付き添ってください。石は濡れると滑りやすいため、足を守れるマリンシューズがあると安心です。樹木が多いぶん蚊が出やすいので、虫よけを持参してください。遊んだあとは足元をよく流し、着替えてから帰ると体が冷えません。
