Takashimizu Castle Outer Moat Park Wall Fountain and Stream
About this spot
This is the free Takashimizu Castle Outer Moat Park Wall Fountain and Stream in Takashimizu, Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture. The park was created from the former outer moat of the castle, and children can play in the water using the artificial waterfall tumbling from the wall fountain, the stream and the pond. The grounds are densely planted so you can enjoy the scenery of all four seasons, and in summer the tree shade becomes a natural resting place. Parking and restrooms are provided, so changing clothes and taking breaks are easy to manage. Playing in the water within the historic terrain of a castle moat is an experience unique to this park. Since admission is free, you can also simply drop by in the evening of a hot day to cool off.
Season & hours

Date & time: 開設期間は未発表 (例年は夏休み期間)

Tips
The opening period has not been announced; in past years it has operated during the summer holidays. Check the Kurihara City information for the situation on the day before you set out. The pond has a different depth from the water-play area, so deciding in advance how far the children may go in is reassuring. Even where the water is shallow, never take your eyes off them and always have an adult accompanying them. The stones become slippery when wet, so water shoes that protect the feet are a good idea. With so many trees, mosquitoes appear easily, so bring insect repellent. After playing, rinse feet thoroughly and change clothes before heading home so nobody gets chilled.
Best time to visit
About 3 hours. The afternoon, when the shade increases, is recommended
