The Okimizugawa Civic Green Space Seseragi Waterway is a gently flowing channel in the Okimizugawa Civic Green Space in Miyakonojo City. The water flows from July to September, from 9:00 to 17:00, and it is shallow enough for small children to enter safely. The green space is enormous at 60.93 hectares and holds 12 sports grounds and 3 ground golf courses, so the area around the waterway rarely gets crowded, which is a major advantage. There are no built-in attractions, but that is exactly why children invent their own ways to play, walking from upstream to downstream and scooping up water until they forget the time. With 1 multipurpose toilet and 9 simple toilets, you can stay a long while with peace of mind.

Tips

Miyakonojo City's official page states clearly that it cannot be used on Thursdays because of cleaning, so always check the day of the week when fixing your date. Parts of the wide green space have little shade, so bring a pop-up tent or picnic mat and a hat. The bed of the waterway can be slippery, so it is safer to step in wearing non-slip sandals. The water stops at 17:00, so starting to wrap up soon after 16:30, allowing time to change, gives you room to spare.
