Jabunko Plaza at Hokedake Park (法華嶽公園 じゃぶんこ広場) is a water play area for young children in Hokedake Park, Kunitomi Town, Higashimorokata District, drawing in clear water from the Aizen River (愛染川). In 2026 it is open from July 18 to August 31, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed on Wednesdays. With a slide installed, even children entering the water for the first time quickly understand how to play, and cheers never stop. Since the water is drawn from a mountain river, it stays crisply cold, and cooling off thoroughly even in midsummer is the special pleasure unique to this spot. Changing rooms and warm-water showers are free to use, and with dedicated parking for 60 cars at Jabunko Plaza, planning a family visit here is very easy.

Tips

Admission is 200 yen for ages 3 and up, and free for children under 3. Renting a float or a summer bed costs 100 yen per day, and the air pump is free to use. Admission is managed with a capacity limit, so on crowded days expect some waiting and head over early. The water is cold, so remind children to take breaks before their lips turn blue. Since it closes at 4:00 PM, allowing time for showering and changing, it's safer to start finishing up around 3:40 PM.

About 3 hours. As the afternoon warms up, the coldness of the water starts to feel just right.
