About this spot

Hokedake Park (法華嶽公園) is a spacious park that makes use of the mountain slope, with lawns and resting spots scattered throughout. Being at elevation, the breeze is cooler than on flat ground, and spreading a sheet in the shade lets you eat comfortably even in midsummer. Having a bento while gazing at the greenery below and the distant mountain ridges becomes, on its own, a memorable time for children. Since you can eat lunch right near Jabunko Plaza, it's easy to naturally flow from finishing your meal into changing clothes and heading to the water. After eating, rest your body a little to prepare for the afternoon.

Tips

Since this is a mountain park, shop hours may be limited. It's safer to bring your own bento and drinks in advance. Taking trash home with you is the basic rule, so bring extra bags. Going into the water right after eating can upset your stomach, so leave about 30 minutes before moving on to water play.

Best time to visit

About 1.5 hours. Especially comfortable around midday when the breeze passes through the shade.
