Toyama Health Park Jabu-Jabu Pond
About this spot
Toyama Health Park Jabu-Jabu Pond is a free water-play area at the center of the outdoor health-promotion facility of Toyama Health Park (Toyama International Health Plaza) in Toyama City. Large rocks that stir a sense of adventure are set in the water, and clambering over them or peering into their shadows gives rise to ways of playing that a merely shallow pool cannot offer. The depth is about knee height, so even small children unused to water play can go in with confidence as long as a guardian is nearby. The official website notes only that the Jabu-Jabu Pond is open from spring through autumn, and since the period is decided anew each time, contacting them before you set out is the sure approach. It is free of charge, and with the Nature Bathing Plaza, the trim course, the Adventure Field, the health promenade and the park golf course all adjoining it, another strength of this place is that you can move on to a different kind of play once the water loses its appeal.

Tips
Because the operating period is decided anew each time, be sure to contact Toyama Health Park (Toyama International Health Plaza) before visiting. To avoid tripping on the rocks or cutting your feet, prepare footwear that protects them, such as water shoes. As it is outdoors, securing shade matters. Getting out of the water once every 30 minutes to drink and rest helps prevent heatstroke. For children not yet out of nappies, please prepare swim nappies.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 30 minutes. The afternoon, when the sun softens, is recommended, and wrapping up before evening makes packing for the trip home easier
