Insect Kingdom Tateyama (Tateyama Nature Center) Water Park

About this spot

The Water Park at Insect Kingdom Tateyama (Tateyama Nature Center) is a water play spot at Insect Kingdom Tateyama (昆虫王国立山) in Tateyama Town (立山町). The official website states that the water level of the Water Park is set quite shallow so that even small children can use it with peace of mind, so it is easy to step into even for children who are not used to playing in water. Streams wind through the grounds, with a Fish Plaza, dragonfly and firefly spawning grounds and a barbecue area right beside them, and the water that flows here is natural spring water. Because it sits high in the mountains, you can touch the water in air that is cooler than on the plains - the particular charm of this place. The Nature Center is open from 10:00 to 16:00 and closed on Tuesdays. There is no statement about when water runs at the Water Park, so contacting the facility before you visit is the sure way to know.

Tips

Fees are not listed on the official website, so check with the facility in advance. Indoor facilities such as the Insect Dome carry a separate charge. The Nature Center is open only until 16:00 and closed on Tuesdays, so watch your dates and times. The spring water is cold, so set a limit on how long you stay in and have towels ready to dry off the moment you get out. The stones on the streambed are slippery, so bring footwear that protects the feet, such as water shoes. Mosquitoes and horseflies appear in the mountains, so do not forget insect repellent.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 45 minutes. The Nature Center closes at 16:00, so the timing assumes you wrap up sometime after 15:00.
