The Michi-no-Eki KOKO Kurobe Waterside Area is a free water play spot at the roadside station KOKO Kurobe in Kurobe City. The water is only about ankle deep, so even toddlers who have just started walking can step in with an adult. Official guidance asks visitors to wear water sandals or water shoes to prevent foot injuries and slips, and to play in clothing rather than in swim diapers or underwear alone. The opening period has not been announced, but the official notice says water will be turned on as soon as there is no longer a risk of overnight freezing. The facility is open every day of the year from 8:30 to 21:00, so an evening visit is one way to avoid the crowds. Pets may not enter the water, but an air-filled bouncing dome, a slide on a grassy mound, and a kids floor with wooden play equipment are also on site, so you can switch to the playground when the water loses its appeal.
