The Parc Akagawa water play area fountain is set within the Akagawa Riverside Green Fureai Plaza in Mikawa Town (三川町). It sits amid the open scenery typical of a riverbed, and with little to block the view the breeze passes through pleasantly. The area around the fountain is a shallow water play zone, so even small children can safely touch the water with an adult beside them. The rest plaza has cooking hearths where barbecues are possible (application required), and with a multipurpose ground, a washing area, an eating space and a car park, a family can stay a long time without inconvenience. Use is free, so a short stop works just as well. The washing area is a very welcome facility for families who want to rinse off sand and grass before heading home.

Tips

The official Mikawa Town announcement states that the water play area fountain is scheduled to start after inspection (planned for around the end of April 2026), with no closing date given. The operating period is unannounced, so check the current status before you set out. The park is open from April to mid-November, from sunrise to sunset. Shade is limited on the riverside green, so be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and a picnic sheet for use under the trees. Barbecues require advance application. Children not yet out of nappies should wear swim nappies.
