The Chuo City Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Park Water Play Area is a free water-play spot that the city describes as a water play area (summer only). The park itself is open all day, with playground equipment for small children, a lawn plaza, and a sports field and soccer pitch. As the name suggests, it is a park that serves as a base in the event of a disaster, and its distinguishing features include emergency manhole toilets, solar-powered pergola benches, stove benches, and an arbor that can double as a disaster shelter. It is also a rare place where you can talk with your children, while they play, about what the equipment normally used as shade or benches turns into in an emergency. Move between water play and outdoor play and spend a relaxed time until evening.

Admission is free. The arbor and pergola benches are handy for shade but limited in number, so bringing a tent is reassuring. There are not many places to eat nearby, so picking up lunch and drinks at Michi-no-Eki Toyotomi roadside station makes things smoother. Walking around the grounds looking for the signs on the disaster-preparedness equipment also makes a lesson for children.

Best time to visit

Arriving at 13:30 lets you play at a relaxed pace all afternoon until the sun goes down.
