A municipal facility that conveys the history and culture of Minami-Alps City, its centerpiece being the Jomon-period pottery and clay figurines unearthed at the Imojiya Site (鋳物師屋遺跡) within the city. The plump, human-figure-decorated pottery with a perforated flange and the conical clay figurine are designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan, and they carry a presence no textbook photo can match. The displays are clearly organized, so even young children make discoveries of their own, noticing a face here or a striking pattern there. The halls are air-conditioned, making this an ideal first stop on a hot morning. There are also exhibits of local folk tools and farming implements, which reveal how life in this area has changed over time.
