Midai Minami Park (御勅使南公園) Wanpaku Wading Pond / Spring Pond
About this spot
The Wanpaku wading pond and spring pond at Midai Minami Park (御勅使南公園) form a free water-play area in the Central Plaza Zone of a park covering an area equal to about 7 Tokyo Domes. The Wanpaku pond is only about 10 cm deep, so even children who have just started walking can wade in safely with a guardian. In 2026 it is open from April 30 to September 30, and the wading pond fountains run 10:00-15:00 on weekdays, 9:30-15:30 on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10:00-15:00 on public holidays. The stream flowing from the spring pond runs only on weekends and holidays, so a weekend visit opens up even more waterside play. Right beside it are the large playground with one of the prefecture's biggest collections of equipment and a broad lawn, and being able to move back and forth between water and play structures is this park's strength. It stays open from late spring into early autumn, so you can also plan a visit outside the peak of summer.
Tips
Free of charge. The fountains run 10:00-15:00 on weekdays, 9:30-15:30 on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10:00-15:00 on public holidays, so note that they stop around 3 p.m. The stream from the spring pond runs only on weekends and holidays. Check the latest information on the official Minami-Alps City page (https://www.city.minami-alps.yamanashi.jp/docs/1599.html). The park is large, so choosing a parking lot near the Central Plaza Zone makes moving around easier. A pop-up tent for changing clothes makes the day more comfortable.
Best time to visit
Arrive at 13:15 and you can enjoy the water without a break until the fountains stop at 15:00.
