Midai Minami Park (御勅使南公園)

About this spot

Midai Minami Park (御勅使南公園) is a prefectural park covering an area equal to about 7 Tokyo Domes, and its Central Plaza Zone holds what is said to be one of the largest collections of big play equipment in the prefecture. Composite structures combining slides, nets and ropes run one after another, in such volume that you hardly know where to start. The paths are wide and well maintained, so strollers move easily, and younger siblings can play safely on the low equipment made for toddlers. Working up a sweat here before the water play makes the pond feel even better afterward. The lawn is broad too, so you can spread a sheet in the shade and rest.

Tips

Use is free. On summer afternoons the metal parts of the equipment get hot, so check the temperature before letting anyone touch them. There is little shade, so drink often. You can walk through the park to reach the Wanpaku pond.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. A little movement right before the water play makes the switch feel natural.
